British design in the English countryside.

NoChintz worked with architect GLM to design and delivery 20 self catering lodges in the Yorkshire Dales for hospitality client Natural Retreats. A truly British retreat in the heart of the country of which all products were sourced and manufactured in the UK.

Sourcing from local suppliers and playing heavily on the forest surroundings, we worked with crafts people and makers to design tree-trunk bedside tables that play on the forest colours and textures. Locally woven wools were used on the bespoke sofas which were commission by Uk manufacture Naughtone.

Bespoke AV units have been designed to accommodate for two types of residences populating the site, as well as specially designed bed-heights which fit perfectly under the ‘head-board windows’ that capture a view of the outside whilst lazing in bed.

Lodges at John O’Groats

Scotland

“Design-centric holiday making”.

23, 3 bedroom lodges designed and delivered as part of the full masterplan strategy for Natural Retreats. The John O’Groats development included the Inn with its two libraries and a restaurant.

Each of the lodges has a large double, two smaller doubles, an open plan kitchen-dining-living-area with a boot room off to the side to hide your dirty wellies. NoChintz specified only British brands for the supply of all furniture and lighting.

A mix of timber, white, greys and purples draw reference from the nature which surrounds your and waiting on your doorstep to be explored.

A snapshot of British design as a celebration of the British countryside.
