Based in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Seed & Cherry is an artisanal food and beverage destination that offers high quality, single origin coffee.

The passionate Seed and Cherry team tasked NoChintz with delivering an interior, branding and visual identity scheme capable of communicating its philosophy at every touchpoint. In response the studio created a layered coffee experience that digs deeper while maintaining a relaxed, informal feel.

A welcome sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping district, NoChintz’s research based concept for Seed & Cherry is routed in the humble bean’s journey from seed to cup, foregoing the dark tones typically associated with coffee culture in favour of a colour palette of greens and reds inspired by the coffee plant itself.

The studio softened the clean lines and edges of the existing building with natural materials and bespoke lighting. Hessian, traditionally used in the transportation of coffee, features on Seed & Cherry’s counter front while custom made table tops in mixed tones reference iys packing crates. Contemporary furniture and shelving punctuate the coffee shop’s raw aesthetic, with hand drawn diagrams and custom wall displays offering visitors insight into where their coffee has come from and how it is made. 

The physical experience of Seed & Cherry carries through into its branding, with materials again a central reference point. Accents of wood and textured paper are met by a typographic line running through the venue’s artwork and menus, which those in the know will recognise as a nod to the mountainous terrain of coffee growing regions. 

NoChintz’s design for this welcoming coffee shop will appeal to those who really know their stuff, appreciate exceptional coffee and anyone simply seeking a short respite from the busy day – a standout offering on Manchester’s daytime food and drink scene.
